Open Play is built by HEED. We take your privacy seriously. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what we don't do with your information.
We don't sell your data
We never have and we never will. Open Play is free for players because we're supported by brands who advertise on the platform — not by selling user data. Advertisers get aggregate metrics (e.g., how many people saw a challenge). They never get your name, email, or identifiable information.
What we collect
To run the app, we collect and store: account info (email, display name, profile details you provide), location data when you check in at courts or use the map, game and activity data (games played, courts visited, groups you join), and device information (e.g., browser or app version) for compatibility and security.
We use this to show you relevant courts and players, match you with games, and improve the product. Targeting for sponsored content (e.g., challenges or gear spotlights) is done on our side using your profile and activity — we don't send your data to third parties for ad targeting.
No third-party trackers
We don't use Meta Pixel, Google Ads tags, or other third-party ad trackers on Open Play. Brands get reporting through our own dashboard, not by dropping cookies or tracking you across the web.
Transparency and control
Sponsored content in the app is always labeled. You can tap "Why am I seeing this?" to see how we matched it to you (e.g., skill level, location). In settings you can opt out of personalized ad targeting; you'll still see sponsored content, but it won't be tailored to your profile.
You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your data by contacting us. We're committed to CCPA and GDPR principles where applicable.
Data retention and security
We keep your data as long as your account is active and as needed for legal and safety reasons. We use industry-standard measures to protect it. If we change how we handle data in a way that affects you, we'll update this policy and notify you where required.
